Fossil Springs, Arizona – January 2018

My friend and I went to Fossil Creek Falls by hiking the 4.1 miles on the Fossil Springs Trail #18.  The Fossil Springs Trailhead is accessed from Forest Road 708 from the town of Strawberry, Arizona (about a one and one-half-hour drive north of Mesa/Phoenix).

We played in the surprisingly warm water (69.6 F degrees at the Fossil Creek Falls waterfall).  Surprisingly warm because the air temperature was colder.  Since this waterfall is less than one-half of one mile from the springs that comprise Fossil Springs, the water does not cool off much from the 70-72 F degrees as it comes out of the ground.

There were several other people who joined us in exploring the Secret Grotto and the Blue Cove.  The log still remains in the Toilet Bowl.
